Tip # 1 – Check your home for cracking caulk. Check inside and especially out. Anywhere moisture can get in can cause major problems. Outside it will rot the trim and possibly even the framing. Inside it will damage the drywall and possibly the framing if left ignored long enough.

Tip # 2 - Kill black mildew with 50-50% bleach and water and a little dish soap! Let it sit for 5 minutes, wipe off, rinse well.

Tip # 3 - Do NOT paint exterior wood trim on your house with OIL based paints. It is possibly the worst thing you can do to your trim. Don’t take my word for it. Do an internet search or call your local paint supplier and ask the MANAGER. You can check to see if your house has been painted with oil by rubbing Goof-Off or another Latex paint remover on the surface. If it gets tacky, you’re okay. If it doesn’t, call or e-mail us. We can give you FREE advice via e-mail. This problem can lead to VERY costly repairs.

Tip # 4 – Check the corners of your gutters. We are finding MANY of them leaking in this area. If they are leaking, they can rot the fascia board behind them causing costly repairs. If you see the fascia board discoloring, please give us a call right away. It may be able to be fixed simply by sealing the gutter corners with gutter sealant, then priming, and re-painting the affected fascia board.

Tip # 5 - Schedule your jobs NOW, BEFORE 2011 pricing goes into effect. All quotes accepted before February will have 2010 pricing. After that GOK!
