This is a regular concrete basement floor/slab that we painted/faux finished to appear to be real tile.
In 1987 Paul attended "The Finishing School" in Great Neck NY to learn these techniques.
Since then we have provided many different decorative finishes for our clients.
We have made wooden tables, fireplace mantles, etc. appear to be made of whichever color and/or type of marble or other stones our clients may have wanted.
We have also done the walls in many two story foyers, dining rooms, etc, to appear as wallpaper. Different patterns, colors, stripes, ,.....almost anything that our clients wanted or imagined that they wanted on their walls, we would make specific samples for them until they had exactly what they wanted.
Unfortunately, we lost most of those pictures in a computer mishap.
We got interested in these techniques one day when Paul's was the painting contractor at a former U.S. Presidents family home in McLean VA and were instructed to paint ONLY a primer on their family room walls. We thought that was a little strange, but the next morning these two ladies came in with natural sponges in their hands and within a couple of days, that room was the most unique and beutiful room I had seen to date.
Paul did his research to find the best trainer in the country and the rest is still going!
We use almost every type of paint, stain, varnish, lacquers,..and tools such as feathers, combs, cheescloth, plastics and most any other materials we can think of to achieve whatever our clients may describe to us that they are looking for. It can be real challenge and that is the fun part!
And every finish we do is the only one in the world.
